Easy Homemade Exfoliant

Okay girls – go to your fridge and grab some milk and a lemon.  Let’s get to work on softening that skin!

What Does Milk Do?

Milk contains lactic acid, a mild but effective natural alpha-hydroxy acid for getting rid of toxins and exfoliating the top layer of your skin. It has been used for centuries. It’s a great deep cleanser for your skin.

Wow! – Milk really does do a body good!
(See Special Note at the end of this post)

What’s The Lemon For?

Lemon juice makes it possible for the lactic acid to sink  your skin acting like a turbo booster!

The Exfoliant Recipe:

Step 1:
2 cup of milk
1/2 cup of water
1 cup lemon juice

Step 2 –
Whisk ingredients together in a bowl so it’s nice and frothy. (There’s just something delightful and delicate about applying a light frothy mixture to your skin)

Tip: If you’re weirded out by using milk from your fridge, you can always use milk powder which is available at many stores.

Step 3 – Sit over your tub or in it, and massage it onto each of your thighs.
Step 4 – Let set for about five minutes.
Step 5 – Then rinse of with tepid water.
Step 6 – Make sure you apply your favorite cream or moisturizer and you’re good to go!

If you have time, double the ingredients and soak in a warm bath for at least twenty minutes for optimum results. Exfoliate your skin with your favorite loofah, or washcloth.  Personally, if I’m going to exfoliate, I prefer not to do so during a bath but in the shower.  After soaking in the bath your skin feel buttery smooth!

Tip: Reduce measurements and apply it to your face, gently massaging in circular and upward motions!  Making sure to avoid the delicate area under your eyes!

Special Note: If you’re allergic to milk, a Vegan, you can always use soy milk, like Silk Milk which is dairy free, and lactose free.  Soy milk still contains lactic acid which comes from a vegetable source.

What is your favorite exfoliant?
